Privacy Policy

My Charming Companion ("MCC," "we," "us") takes your privacy seriously — especially given the personal nature of our platform. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what control you have over your information.
We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. We collect what we need to run a safe, functional platform, and nothing more.
1. What We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information: Name, email address, phone number, city, country
- Profile content: Photos, bio, interests, experience (Companions)
- Application data: Information submitted through the Companion application form
- Booking details: Dates, times, locations, itinerary notes, payment information
- Communications: Messages sent through the platform, support requests
- Reviews: Ratings and written feedback about bookings
Information collected automatically
- Device data: Browser type, operating system, screen resolution
- Usage data: Pages visited, time on site, referral source
- IP address: Used for security, fraud prevention, and approximate location
- Cookies: Session management, preferences, analytics (see Section 6)
Information from third parties
- Stripe Identity: Verification status (verified / not verified). We receive confirmation that identity has been verified — we do not receive or store copies of government-issued IDs, Social Security numbers, or biometric data. Stripe handles that under their own privacy policy.
- Payment processor: Transaction confirmations and payment status. We do not store full credit card numbers.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Operate the platform — create accounts, display profiles, process bookings
- Verify identity — confirm Companions are real people through Stripe Identity
- Process payments — handle deposits, refunds, and payouts
- Ensure safety — detect fraud, investigate reports, enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines
- Communicate with you — booking confirmations, safety alerts, platform updates, support responses
- Improve the platform — understand usage patterns, fix bugs, develop features
We do not use your information for targeted advertising or sell it to third parties. Period.
3. What We Share (and Don't)
Shared by design
- Companion profiles are visible to all site visitors (name, photos, city, bio, rating)
- Client details (name, contact info) are shared with a Companion only when a booking is confirmed
- Reviews are visible on profiles after posting
Shared with service providers
- Payment processor — to handle transactions securely
- Stripe Identity — to verify Companion identities
- Hosting/infrastructure — our servers process your data to deliver the service
- Analytics — anonymized, aggregated usage data (no personally identifiable information)
Never shared
- We never sell your personal information
- We never share data with advertisers
- We never share your booking history with other users
Legal requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, or court order — or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of any person, prevent fraud, or respond to a government request.
4. Data Security
We protect your data with:
- HTTPS encryption on all pages and API endpoints
- Encrypted storage for passwords (bcrypt hashing — we never store plaintext passwords)
- Access controls — only authorized personnel can access user data
- Regular security reviews of our infrastructure and codebase
No system is 100% secure. We do our best, but we can't guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at security@mycharming.com.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
Active accounts: Your data is retained for as long as your account is active.
Account deletion: You can request account deletion at any time by emailing privacy@mycharming.com. When you delete your account:
- Your profile is removed from public view immediately
- Personal data is deleted within 30 days
- Some data may be retained longer where required by law (tax records, fraud prevention) or in anonymized form (aggregated statistics)
- Reviews you've written may persist in anonymized form
Inactive accounts: Accounts with no login for 24 months may be flagged for deletion. We'll email you before taking action.
6. Cookies
We use cookies for:
- Essential cookies: Login sessions, CSRF protection, security — the site won't work without these
- Analytics cookies: Anonymous usage statistics to help us improve the platform
We don't use tracking cookies, retargeting pixels, or third-party advertising cookies. Your browsing on MCC stays on MCC.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and personal data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Opt out of non-essential communications
California residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of any sale of personal information (we don't sell it, but you have the right to ask).
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@mycharming.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
8. Children's Privacy
MCC is for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old to use our platform. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we discover we've collected data from a minor, we'll delete it immediately.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date and notify registered users by email for material changes.
